What/Who: PD for high school social studies/history teachers

When: 8:15-12:00 on August 8, 2019 

Where: Capital High School, Room 152

Goal:              Develop culturally relevant lessons & activities for the following topics:

·         Black History Month

·         Constitution Day

·         Slavery

·         Fiestas

·         Indigenous Peoples’ Day

                       Outcomes:

Develop themes & essential questions

Review & compile resources such as the Teaching Tolerance lessons.

                       Guiding principles:

Each of these social studies/history topics should be woven into the fabric of lessons throughout the year and not limited to one day or season. SFPS will plan for the incorporation of a balanced understanding of the topics with the additional goal of providing activities for teachers that will respectfully commemorate Black History Month, Constitution Day, Slavery, Fiestas, and Indigenous Peoples' Day.
